Dataset
To provide data on the functionality, management, and performance of rural water points to support sustainable rural water service delivery, monitoring, and research
The dataset was developed to address challenges related to the premature failure and unreliable performance of rural water systems, which affect progress toward SDG 6 on safe and affordable drinking water access.
The dataset includes observations of rural water point functionality and management committee questionnaires for 1,793 water points. Variables cover water point type, pump type, drilling method, rehabilitation history, households and population served, water availability, functionality status, management arrangements, geographic coordinates, elevation, and infrastructure characteristics.
The data were collected through water point surveys and management committee questionnaires conducted across rural water systems, with geospatial locations recorded for mapped water points.
