Dataset
To provide access to WASH indicators from refugee camps and settlements to support humanitarian monitoring, WASH service assessment, planning, and decision-making in refugee settings.
The dataset was developed from WASH monitoring data collected via the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Information Management System (IRIS) and published on the UNHCR WASH dashboard.
The dataset contains WASH indicator data from 191 refugee camps and settlements across 29 countries. The unhcrwash dataset includes 6,425 observations and 27 variables covering indicators such as persons per handpump, persons per water tap, liters of potable water available per person per day, chlorinated and non-chlorinated water quality measures, households with toilets, persons per toilet, persons per shower, persons per hygiene promoter, refugee population, household water availability, potable water storage capacity, protected water sources, menstrual hygiene satisfaction, household toilet access, toilet use practices, access to soap, and access to solid waste disposal services
The data were collected through UNHCR WASH monitoring and reporting systems in refugee camps and settlements and stored within the UNHCR Information Management System (IRIS). The indicators are compiled from routine WASH monitoring activities and reported through the UNHCR WASH dashboard and associated information management systems
