To provide borehole pumping test data for assessing groundwater extraction, borehole performance, and water quality in Malawi to support hydrogeological analysis
The dataset was developed as part of the Borehole Forensics 4 initiative in Malawi and focuses on understanding borehole functionality, groundwater availability, and operational performance through pumping test investigations
The dataset contains 203 observations and 44 variables related to borehole pumping tests conducted in Malawi between 2018 and 2024. Variables include test dates, administrative locations, GPS coordinates, static and dynamic water levels, pumping rates, flow measurement methods, borehole depths, pumping durations, permissions granted for testing, equipment used, water quality indicators such as pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, and total dissolved solids, as well as observations on borehole performance including whether water levels stabilized during pumping and whether the borehole passed the pumping test.
The data were collected through borehole forensic pumping tests conducted across Malawi between 2018 and 2024. Field investigations recorded groundwater extraction characteristics, borehole performance measurements, pumping conditions, water level responses, flow measurements, equipment information, and water quality assessments during pumping test operations
