Dataset
To provide data on the condition, functionality, rehabilitation needs, and flood impacts affecting rural water points in Malawi to support disaster response planning.
The dataset originates from the USAID Flood Response Water Point Survey conducted in Malawi following flood-related impacts on rural water infrastructure. The survey was designed to assess water point conditions, identify infrastructure damage, document rehabilitation needs, and support recovery planning for flood-affected communities.
The dataset floodresponsemw contains water point assessment records from flood-affected areas in Malawi. Variables include survey metadata, GPS coordinates, water point identification information, functionality status, rehabilitation requirements, infrastructure condition assessments, environmental risk observations, water access indicators, community information, and operational characteristics of rural water points. The dataset supports analysis of flood impacts on water infrastructure, service disruptions, rehabilitation priorities, and water point performance.
The data were collected between 2019 and 2020 as part of the USAID Flood Response Water Point Survey in Malawi. Field teams conducted water point assessments in flood-affected communities, recording GPS locations, infrastructure conditions, functionality status, environmental risks, and rehabilitation-related information through structured survey instruments.
