To provide detailed records of borehole drilling and construction activities across selected sites in Malawi.
The dataset was developed as part of efforts to document the complete borehole development process in Malawi, from site selection and hydrogeological investigations to drilling, construction, and post-construction assessments. It supports evidence-based groundwater management and improved understanding of borehole development practices in Malawi
The dataset contains 152 observations and 138 variables documenting borehole drilling and construction activities in Malawi. It includes drilling dates, GPS coordinates, intended water point use, funding source, contract and community agreement status, government supervision, drilling contractor details, driller licensing, staff experience, drilling rig and compressor specifications, equipment condition, safety features, PPE availability, site selection methods, hydrogeological and geophysical survey information, contamination-distance checks, site accessibility and suitability, photos, site safety arrangements, rig setup details, drilling rod length, borehole diameter, drilling depth intervals, circulation method, drill bit type, drilling time, water strike depth, temporary casing details, geological formation descriptions, discharge rates, water quality measurements, borehole depth, water level, casing installation, casing materials, gravel pack details, static water levels before and after development, turbidity, sediment, and final borehole design summaries
