Dataset
To provide public access to geospatial datasets, maps, and data services related to Alaska's natural resources, supporting environmental management, land administration, resource development, conservation, research, planning, and decision-making
The Natural Resources collection is part of the Alaska State Geoportal, a centralized platform maintained by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for discovering and accessing geospatial information. The portal brings together datasets from multiple state agencies and programs and serves as a gateway to land, water, forestry, geology, minerals, energy, environmental, and natural resource information across Alaska.
The portal contains a large collection of natural resource datasets, maps, web services, and downloadable geospatial layers. Dataset types include land ownership and land status data, water resources and water rights information, forestry and wildfire datasets, geology and geophysics data, mineral resources and mining information, oil and gas resources, conservation and protected areas, wetlands, hydrography and watershed data, environmental monitoring datasets, public land surveys, land use classifications, recreation and parks information, aerial imagery, topographic mapping products, and GIS reference layers
The datasets are compiled and maintained by multiple divisions of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and partner agencies through land administration activities, environmental monitoring programs, geologic and geophysical surveys, forestry inventories, water resource management programs, remote sensing, field surveys, GIS mapping initiatives, and regulatory reporting systems. The Alaska State Geoportal aggregates these resources and makes them publicly available through a centralized discovery platform
