Dataset
To provide geographic information on certified sewer utility service areas in Alaska to support wastewater infrastructure planning, utility regulation, service area management, and public service delivery analysis.
The dataset is maintained by the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED) and is based on active service area certificates issued by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA). The RCA regulates public utilities and certifies utility service areas to ensure the provision of safe and adequate services. The dataset provides a spatial representation of areas served by regulated sewer utilities across Alaska.
The dataset contains 133 observations, with each record representing a certified sewer utility service area in Alaska. The dataset includes GIS polygon features and associated attributes describing regulated sewer utility service territories. Variables include utility name, certificate number, certificate status, utility type, community served, mailing address, city, state, ZIP code, contact information, and geographic service area boundaries.
The dataset was compiled from active RCA Certificate Service Areas and utility service area records maintained by the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. Service area boundaries are established through utility certification and regulatory processes administered by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska and are published as GIS feature services through the Alaska State Geoportal.
