Dataset
To provide geographic boundaries and service area information for public water systems in Arkansas
The dataset was developed by the Engineering Division of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to create a comprehensive geographic database of public water utilities and service areas across Arkansas. It supports mapping, management, and analysis of public drinking water systems and their service boundaries throughout the state
The dataset contains polygon boundaries representing public water system service areas in Arkansas. Each record represents a public water system and includes information on water system names, service area boundaries, utility service coverage, and associated public water system attributes. The dataset provides a statewide representation of drinking water utility service areas and can be used to identify which public water system serves a given location. The boundaries were developed and verified using aerial imagery, road networks, landmarks, and utility information maintained by the Arkansas Department of Health.
The dataset was compiled by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) Engineering Division through the development of a statewide geographic database of public water utilities. Water system boundaries were delineated using digital aerial photography, road names, landmarks, and utility service information. Representatives from ADH reviewed and verified the boundaries to improve their accuracy and consistency.
