The Energy and Environment category is part of the Delaware Open Data Portal, the State of Delaware's centralized open data platform. The collection brings together datasets maintained by state agencies responsible for environmental protection, water resources, natural resources, public health, energy, and environmental monitoring. The portal supports transparency and evidence-based decision-making by providing access to environmental information across the state.
The portal contains a diverse collection of environmental and energy-related datasets covering water resources, environmental monitoring, natural resources, pollution control, environmental health, and energy management. Dataset types include: Water resource datasets such as water quality information, recreational water advisories, watershed and hydrologic data. Environmental monitoring datasets covering air quality, pollution reporting, environmental assessments, and monitoring programs. Environmental health datasets, including underground storage tanks, environmental risk information, and public health-related environmental data. Wildlife and natural resource datasets, such as waterfowl surveys, habitat monitoring, and conservation-related information. Energy-related datasets covering energy infrastructure, energy use, and environmental impacts associated with energy systems. Environmental mapping resources are available through the Delaware Environmental Navigator (DEN) and other geospatial platforms.
The datasets are compiled from multiple state environmental monitoring, regulatory, permitting, inspection, and resource management programs. Data are generated through environmental sampling, water quality monitoring, wildlife surveys, air quality assessments, regulatory reporting, facility inspections, GIS mapping, and environmental health investigations conducted by Delaware state agencies. The Open Data Portal aggregates these resources into a centralized platform for public access.
