The Surface Water Data portal is maintained by the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy and Environment (DWEE) and serves as a centralized access point for surface-water information throughout the state. The portal also links users to monitoring networks, water-data applications, hydrologic reports, and datasets used for tracking water availability, water conditions, flood risk, reservoir operations, and surface-water management across Nebraska.
Surface-water data are collected through stream-gaging stations, river monitoring networks, reservoir monitoring programs, water-quality sampling activities, hydrologic surveys, remote sensing applications, and cooperative monitoring efforts involving state and federal agencies. Data are compiled from ongoing monitoring programs and integrated into Nebraska's water information systems.
