To provide access to South Carolina's water-resource programs, water management initiatives, hydrologic information, flood mitigation resources, freshwater fisheries information, lake management resources, and water-related environmental programs
The Water Resources Portal is maintained by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and serves as a central gateway to water-related programs and resources in South Carolina. Following state government restructuring, some hydrology and aquatic nuisance species programs were transferred to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) in July 2024, while SCDNR continues to provide access to a broad range of water-resource information and management programs
The portal provides access to water-resource programs and information covering hydrology, flood mitigation, freshwater fisheries research, fish pond management, scenic rivers, state and public lakes, aquatic nuisance species management, freshwater and saltwater boundary information, environmental review programs, estuarine research, coastal water-resource initiatives, and marine research activities. It also serves as a gateway to hydrologic information, water-resource assessments, lake management resources, and water-related environmental programs conducted throughout South Carolina
Information available through the portal is generated from hydrologic monitoring programs, fisheries research, flood studies, environmental reviews, watershed assessments, water-resource planning efforts, groundwater monitoring networks, streamflow monitoring programs, and cooperative research initiatives involving state and federal agencies, universities, and research institutions.
