Dataset
To provide public access to environmental geospatial datasets that support environmental protection, natural resource management, environmental monitoring, land-use planning, conservation, regulatory activities, and scientific research across Tennessee.
The Environment Collection is part of the Tennessee Open Data Portal (TNMap), Tennessee's statewide GIS data platform. TNMap serves as the primary gateway for accessing geospatial datasets, web services, mapping applications, and environmental information maintained by state agencies.
The collection contains environmental datasets and applications. Examples include hydrographic datasets representing Tennessee's rivers, streams, and waterbodies; the National Wetlands Inventory containing mapped wetland resources; statewide soil datasets for Tennessee; and Adopt-A-Highway applications and associated public data used to support roadside environmental stewardship activities. Together, these resources provide information on surface water features, wetlands, soils, and environmental management activities throughout Tennessee.
Datasets are compiled and maintained by Tennessee state agencies through environmental monitoring programs, resource inventories, field surveys, environmental assessments, conservation initiatives, regulatory reporting systems, GIS mapping programs, and administrative data collection. Information is standardized and published through TNMap for public access and geospatial analysis.
