To provide interactive access to Arkansas water quality monitoring data through visualization, filtering, plotting, and download tools that support environmental monitoring, water quality assessment, and scientific analysis.
The Water Quality Explorer is maintained by the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (Division of Environmental Quality). It is an interactive web application built from the Arkansas Water Quality Monitoring Database, allowing users to explore monitoring data collected through the state's water quality monitoring programs.
The application provides interactive access to water quality monitoring data collected throughout Arkansas. Users can select one or multiple monitoring sites, choose specific water quality parameters, search monitoring stations by description, filter observations by date, group results by monitoring site or parameter, generate interactive plots, apply LOESS trend lines to visualize temporal trends, and download both graphs and CSV files. The platform allows users to explore laboratory monitoring results for different sampling locations and compare water quality measurements across sites and time periods using built-in analytical and visualization tools.
Water quality data are collected through the Arkansas DEQ's statewide monitoring programs and stored in the Water Quality Monitoring Database. The Explorer retrieves these monitoring records and provides interactive tools for filtering, plotting, and downloading the data. Users can subset observations by monitoring site, parameter, and sampling period, enabling exploratory analysis of water quality trends and temporal variation.
