Dataset
To provide the locations and information about industrial sites that may have been contaminated by hazardous substances.
The Arkansas Brownfield Program Viewer is maintained by the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment (Division of Environmental Quality, DEQ). The application supports the Arkansas Brownfield Program by mapping properties where actual or suspected hazardous substance contamination may hinder redevelopment.
The viewer provides an interactive statewide map of Arkansas brownfield properties and displays the locations of active and completed brownfield sites. Users can identify industrial and commercial properties that may be contaminated by hazardous substances, view sites currently participating in the Brownfield Voluntary Cleanup Program, and locate rehabilitated sites that have completed remediation and been returned to productive use. The application provides geographic locations, project status (e.g., active or complete), and site-specific information
Brownfield locations are compiled and maintained by the Arkansas DEQ through the Brownfield Program. Site information is generated from voluntary cleanup agreements, environmental site assessments (including Phase I and Phase II investigations), remediation activities, and program records. The interactive map is updated to reflect the current status of participating brownfield properties.
