To provide public access to geospatial datasets, maps, and water resource information that support water management, environmental protection, flood resilience, and scientific research in northwest Florida.
The Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) Open Data Portal is the official geospatial data platform maintained by the Northwest Florida Water Management District. The portal supports the District's mission of protecting and managing water resources by making GIS datasets, interactive maps, and environmental information freely available to government agencies, researchers, planners, consultants, and the public. It complements the District's GIS Mapping program and serves as a centralized source for spatial data covering water resources, hydrology, flood management, conservation, and land management across northwest Florida.
The portal contains downloadable GIS datasets and interactive mapping resources covering water resources, hydrology, watershed and basin boundaries, rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands, floodplains, LiDAR, topography, groundwater, aquifers, water management district boundaries, conservation lands, monitoring sites, land use, aerial imagery, environmental planning, and administrative boundaries. Available resources also include board member watershed boundaries, hydrologic datasets, flood mapping information, wetland mitigation resources, map modernization products, and other geospatial layers used to support water resource management
Datasets are developed and maintained through GIS mapping, hydrologic monitoring, groundwater investigations, LiDAR acquisition, field surveys, remote sensing, engineering studies, environmental monitoring programs, and water resource management activities conducted by the Northwest Florida Water Management District. Spatial datasets are standardized and published through the ArcGIS Hub Open Data platform for public download and use.
