Dataset
To provide public access to geospatial datasets that support water resource management, environmental planning, flood protection, scientific research, and GIS applications across southwest Florida.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) Geospatial Open Data Portal is the District's official ArcGIS Hub platform for distributing GIS datasets, maps, and web services. The portal supports the District's responsibilities under the Florida Water Resources Act (Chapter 373, Florida Statutes), through collaboration with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
The portal organizes geospatial datasets into eight primary categories: Boundaries, Demographics, Elevation, Environmental, Hydrography, Land Use, Land Resources, and Permitting. These categories provide downloadable GIS datasets, feature services, and mapping resources related to administrative boundaries, population projections, terrain and elevation, environmental features, rivers and other hydrographic features, land use and land cover, natural resource information, and water-resource permitting. The portal also includes county-level population projection datasets, historical seagrass datasets (1982–2024) for the Suncoast and Springs Coast, story maps covering aquifer exploration, agricultural water management (FARMS), and seagrass change analysis, together with links to aerial imagery, LiDAR elevation resources, aquifer datasets, and other Florida geospatial data portals.
Datasets are developed and maintained through GIS mapping, environmental monitoring, hydrologic investigations, land use mapping, permitting programs, engineering studies, population analyses, and natural resource management activities conducted by SWFWMD and partner agencies. Data are published through the ArcGIS Hub platform as downloadable GIS datasets and web services.
