Dataset
To provide public access to environmental, natural resource, and geospatial data managed by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management
The platform is maintained by RIDEM as part of Rhode Island’s environmental information services. It serves as a centralized portal where government agencies, researchers, organizations, and the public can access maps, environmental datasets, permit-related information, and geographic resources related to natural resource management within Rhode Island. The portal supports state-level environmental governance and public transparency initiatives
The platform includes environmental geospatial resources, mapping services, downloadable maps, and environmental monitoring information, specifically: Watershed maps (including HUC12 sub-watersheds), Stormwater management maps (RIPDES Phase II Stormwater areas), Water resource and hydrology data, Lake and pond bathymetry maps, Shellfish closure and polluted waters maps, Environmental sensitivity index maps, Groundwater and freshwater permit search systems, Septic and wastewater permit information, Coastal and marine environmental maps, Conservation and land management spatial data, Aerial imagery and GIS-based environmental mapping resources, and Regulatory and permit-related environmental records
Data is collected and maintained by RIDEM through its environmental monitoring programs, regulatory permitting systems, geographic information systems (GIS), and state environmental management activities. Information is published through interactive web mapping services, downloadable PDF maps, GIS resources, and environmental permit search tools. The platform integrates environmental monitoring data, regulatory records, spatial datasets, and publicly accessible mapping applications for environmental management and decision support.
