To monitor and characterize surface water resources across Nevada by providing access to statewide water quality monitoring data.
It supports Nevada’s statewide water quality monitoring program, which routinely assesses the condition of rivers, lakes, streams, and other surface water bodies. In some parts of southern Nevada, additional monitoring is conducted by partner agencies rather than the Bureau of Water Quality Planning.
The database contains surface water quality monitoring data collected from sampling stations across Nevada. It includes chemical and physical water quality measurements, station location information, monitored waterbody records, parameter-specific datasets, historical monitoring records, and downloadable data files in CSV format, including StationData.csv, NormalizedData.csv, and WideData.csv for analysis.
The Bureau of Water Quality Planning collects surface-water samples from monitoring stations across Nevada, typically three or more times per year depending on the water body and intended data use. Data collection follows the Nevada Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) for Surface Water Sampling, which establishes standardized procedures for sample collection, chemical and physical water quality analysis, field measurements, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance practices. The collected monitoring data is continuously added and updated within the Data Warehouse for public access.
