To provide drinking water quality and environmental health data to monitor water safety, identify contaminant exposure risks, and support public health decision-making, policy development, and community awareness regarding drinking water quality in New Hampshire.
While community water systems are regulated and routinely treated, a significant proportion of households in New Hampshire rely on private wells, which may contain naturally occurring contaminants such as arsenic, uranium, and radon, as well as contamination from agricultural, industrial, and domestic activities.
The portal contains data and interactive dashboards related to contaminants in community water systems, private well water quality, town-level summaries of private well water quality, and probability mapping for contaminants such as arsenic and radon in private wells. It also provides environmental health tracking information, drinking water contamination data, and supporting public health resources related to water safety.
Data is compiled through routine monitoring and treatment of community water systems to ensure contaminant levels remain within federal and state regulatory standards. The New Hampshire Environmental Public Health Tracking Program analyzes water testing data for contaminants collected from community water systems and private wells to understand environmental exposure risks and assess potential health impacts.
