Dataset
To provide access to technical, monitoring, and spatial information supporting the assessment, management, and monitoring of water resources in Madagascar.
The module forms part of the MGMERL platform's water-resources component and brings together information from water-resource investigations, monitoring systems, technical reports, and external data sources. It provides both analytical views and downloadable datasets covering groundwater, wells, aquifers, watersheds, drilling activities, water levels, meteorological conditions, and drought conditions.
The Water Resources module includes an interactive Water Resources Map that allows users to visualize and explore water-resource information spatially by district and municipality. The map includes layers for hydrogeology, geology, drainage basins, water points, technical drilling reports, water-resource infrastructure, company structures, data-loggers, UNICEF water points, community locations, and other water-resource sites, with selectable background maps and layer opacity controls. The module also provides technical drilling reports and associated data on lithology, casing, filling, step-drawdown tests, long-term pumping tests, drilling logs, construction, surveillance, and water quality. Groundwater information covers wells, water levels, electrical conductivity, well depth, watersheds, aquifers, geology, administrative regions, monitoring points, and related water-cycle information. Additional components cover drought bulletins, piezometric monitoring, hydrometric stations, meteorological stations and measurements, and regulation of water withdrawals. The Exportation section provides access to raw and processed water-resource data, including borehole technical reports, watersheds, aquifers, water levels, multiple-use water systems (MUS), and water points
The resource integrates data collected through field investigations, drilling and pumping-test assessments, monitoring stations, data loggers, technical reporting, and external information sources into the MGMERL platform. Data are organized into thematic tables, spatial layers, monitoring records, technical reports, and downloadable datasets. Different monitoring technologies and platforms are incorporated to support continued observation of groundwater and related water-resource conditions.
