To provide an integrated platform for accessing, visualizing, and monitoring sectoral WASH information across Madagascar, supporting the assessment of WASH services, infrastructure, inventories, and planning activities at national and local levels.
The Sectoral Monitoring module is part of the MGMERL (Madagascar Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning) Platform. It brings together WASH information from different thematic areas within a single interactive environment, supporting sector monitoring and planning across administrative and service-delivery levels. The module includes dedicated components for general spatial information, WASH inventories, inventory cascading, schools, healthcare facilities, and national and local planning.
The module provides sectoral WASH information through several thematic components, including General Map, Inventory, Inventory Cascade, JMP-Schools, JMP-Healthcare Facilities, Planning-National, and Planning-Local. The General Map provides interactive spatial visualization of administrative areas, sites, water points, water systems, health facilities, schools, surveys, WASH inventories, boreholes and wells, and related sector monitoring information. The Inventory and Inventory Cascade components provide access to WASH inventory information for various sites, while the JMP-Schools and JMP-Healthcare Facilities components provide information (JMP service ladders) related to WASH conditions in schools and healthcare facilities. The Planning-National and Planning-Local components provide sectoral information for planning at national and local levels (services, cost estimates, and finances).
Data are collected through the MGMERL monitoring and evaluation system, which is based on the mWater/Solstice platform. Structured digital forms are used to collect information from WASH-sector actors and local data producers. Collected information is entered into MGMERL, where it is managed, processed, visualized, and analyzed for sector monitoring and reporting.
