Dataset
To provide information on WASH and related development activities, beneficiaries, programme implementation, and operational presence across Madagascar.
The dataset is part of the Programmatic Monitoring module of MGMERL, a national WASH monitoring and information-management platform. It brings together information on activities implemented by different partners and projects and organizes the information into thematic areas covering drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, cash transfers, social behaviour change, and climate change and the environment.
The dataset contains a broad range of WASH and development monitoring information collected through the MGMERL platform. It includes programmatic monitoring of activities, operational presence and beneficiaries across drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, cash transfers, social behaviour change, and climate change and environment; monitoring of water prices from formal and informal vendors; community-level monitoring of service levels, sanitation, hygiene and implementation; water-point monitoring, including baseline and endline information; and WASH monitoring in schools and healthcare facilities, covering JMP service levels, water, sanitation, hygiene, infrastructure, waste management, environmental cleaning, nutrition, electricity, mobile connectivity and photographs. It also includes event tracking, drinking-water supply system monitoring, technical, financial, and commercial performance indicators, water-system functionality and management, market-based sanitation information such as willingness to pay, sales, payments, and fulfilment, and spatial information on sand dams, boreholes, wells, rivers, and roads.
The information is collected through multiple mWater/Solstice monitoring forms and digital data-collection workflows, depending on the thematic component. Data are reported by implementing partners and other field-level actors through structured forms and are subsequently processed, aggregated, visualized, and analyzed within MGMERL. Some modules incorporate external or linked information, including JMP indicators, WASHDATA.ORG, and DHIS2.
